ICS Governance Handbook

ICS Governance Handbook

The Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers (ICS) is the global professional body for commercial shipping, with its Head Office in London and an international presence through its Branch and Distance Learning Centre (DLC) network. Membership in ICS is earned through rigorous examination, reflecting the Institute’s commitment to professional excellence.

This handbook, approved by the Controlling Council, serves three main purposes:

  • To guide ICS officers, Council and Committee members, and Branch Chairmen on governance procedures.
  • To provide a transparent, central source of up-to-date information on ICS’s decision-making processes.
  • To act as a living document, regularly reviewed by the Executive Council (EC) and ratified annually by the Controlling Council (CC).
